This past Sunday I was invited to an event at La Concha which featured a fashion show from designer David Antonio and live music by VivaNativa to celebrate one of my favorite nights of the year: La Noche de San Juan.
For those of you who don’t know, la Noche de SJ is celebrated on June 23rd each year on the eve of Saint John or San Juan’s day who’s the patron saint of our capital and tradition goes that you have to jump backwards into water 7 (or some say 12) times to have a good year, get some wishes granted and/or good luck. Every year, thousands of people flock to the beach, get their drink on and jump into the water.
Back to the event, David Antonio’s show featured a variety of swim options for both men and women as well as some cover ups, light sweaters, shorts and other pieces that would be perfect for the summer. His focus was mainly on solid colors with a few pieces including stripes or tropical prints. Although most of the pieces were safe, the mix between stripes and the tropical print really caught my eye.
Even though the styling wasn’t my favorite and a lot of the pieces were safe, they looked to be well made and I enjoyed the palette used for the swimsuits. I also liked that he gave men another option apart from the usual short. Plus, the setting was awesome and props for not stopping when it started to rain.
Here are a few photos of the fashion show as well as what I wore to the event and other pics of things that caught my eye that unforgettable Noche de SJ.
